Masterpiece Carving! Museum quality Sculpture!
Inuit transformations have permeated Inuit art since the 1950s.
A transformation is a metamorphosis of a human to an animal OR one animal to another!
Transformations are featured in both CARVINGS and PRINTS.
PEGASUS is a particularly stunning Human to Animal transformation.
But this four legged animal also has wings!
Is Kupapik teasing us with a Human changing to a mammal and finally a bird?!
I am mesmerized with Pegasus' human face.
In a style similar to Andy Miki, the facial features are abstract and minimal.
The rich black is the exact colour for this piece.
The Black allows us to focus on the flowing lines of the body and the geometric angles of the face.
INTRIGUING!
MAGNIFICENT!
