Provenance June 2024: I recently received two extraordinary Nuna Parr Bears. Both were offered to me on consignment. Normally, I do not do consignments; however, when I saw these two bears, my heart skipped a beat. I knew I had to have them!
THIS ARCHING BACK DANCING BEAR IS THE CARVING THAT HAS MADE NUNA PARR THE MOST FAMOUS INUIT ARTIST IN THE WORLD -
Now extremely rare, I have seen maybe one or two arching back bears like this one in the last 10 years. This carving style has made Nuna Parr among the top 5 Elite Master Carvers in Canadian History.
This fellow came to our gallery for consignment. When I saw one of Nuna Parr's classic arching-back bears, I did not hesitate.
It has been over a year since Nuna last carved. Will this bear be the last one? Maybe... maybe not. But I have no regrets—that's how I go about my life. Don't hesitate. This bear will be worth over six figures very shortly.
