I have never seen an Inuit carver present a computer, desk and chair.

Ning has shown us her playful side but this piece is also intriguing.

The stripes of colour of the desktop simulate wood.

The medium green of the chair, computer, and desk legs is patterned exactly the right size for this small piece.

Look closely,

Ning has even carved individual keys on the keyboard!

What a unique sculpture from Cape Dorset's only active female carver.

Ning deserves all her notoriety.

Ning Ashoona is the only active female carver from Cape Dorset.

Ning and James Pitseolak are close cousins. They often carve together. The adaptation of this contemporary desk is inspired by James Pitseolak's utilitarian objects that he would carve. Both artists often carved together, and it is understood that the "Office Desk" was inspired by many of James's pieces over the years.
