Masterpiece Carving! Museum quality Sculpture!
I am fascinated with vintage carvings and their artists!
Humans will desire some "things" that are considered old.
And yet, discard others simply because some old things are seen as having outlived their usefulness.
It has been my experience, (as I become more appreciative of carvings from even 40-50 years ago), that many of the carvers were artists who did not fit into any sort of time frame.
Their love for their subject, whether a walking bear or a Mother and child piece, was not subverted by the fashion of the time.
Good art is timeless art.
And timeless art is part of humanity's legacy.
Coinbit is a complex, sophisticated portrayal of a majestic adult bird, carrying a young bird ( likely its offspring) on its back on its extended wing.
Look at the powerful legs of the adult as it balances itself on a branch.
Can you see that the young bird has the same determination on its face as the adult?
This suggests to me that Lyola was showing us that a Hawk or Eagle (a Raptor) is born with its Raptor instincts which are perhaps present even as it emerges from its egg!
Take time to explore the nuances of the past.
